Woodworks
A live-edge walnut slab dining table on a trestle base, set for eight, in a family kitchen

Made for you and your posterity.

Substantial solid hardwood tables and furniture, designed and built by one maker in Bonita Springs, Florida, for homes across the country. Twelve seats is an ordinary commission here.

A tribute to past traditions, strong enough to be an inheritance.

Soli Deo Gloria

We are a company with a deep love for the American people and our natural resources. Every heirloom piece of custom wood furniture we make is crafted from sustainably sourced solid hardwoods and American sawmills: a tribute to past traditions and designs, and strong enough to be an inheritance for our children's children.

We pull inspiration from Neoclassicism, Art Deco, and American Colonialism, brought into the present with uncompromising quality. Every piece is designed for one room and one household, and quoted on its own.

The workshop
A woodworker's hands marking a board on the bench among shavings

One maker, from the first sketch to your front door.

Our founder spent years studying other master craftsmen and design philosophies before opening a shop under his own name. Every commission is designed and built by his hands, start to finish.

He learned the trade as a child, working alongside his grandfather in the woodshop: sawing, chiseling, and sanding to make things for family and community. That spirit of making something that lasts is still the whole point.

The workshop
Heritage American Woodworks: figured monkeypod grain running the length of a finished top

Solid hardwood, and joinery that holds.

Everything is sustainably sourced from American sawmills. Nothing here is a veneer over particle board, and nothing is assembled with a cam lock and an allen key. Boards are chosen for a single piece, milled and jointed in the shop, and finished for the room they are going to live in.

  • One maker, start to finish

The person you meet at the consultation is the person who draws the piece, selects the boards, cuts the joinery, and delivers it. Nothing is subcontracted, and nothing is built to a stock size.

  • Solid hardwood, chosen board by board

Sustainably sourced from American sawmills, and never a veneer over particle board. The species is your decision, made with the actual boards in front of you.

  • Built weighty, to be inherited

Tops the thickness of a beam and joinery that holds for generations rather than for a warranty period. Most furniture sold today is designed to reach a landfill within a decade. A piece from this shop takes two people to move and is designed to be refinished in fifty years instead of replaced.

How a commission runs

Four steps, in this order, and nothing is cut until you have approved a drawing.

  1. 1

    Consultation

Before we do anything we want to understand you and your family's needs for whatever piece you have in mind. You may know exactly what you want right down to exact dimensions and style. Or you may just want something beautiful that fits your space. We can work with both.

  2. 2

    Design

This is where the fun begins. During this phase we will take the info from our consult and create a render or sketch of your piece of furniture. This is also when you pick out your wood species or slab, epoxy colors, legs, and the rest.

  3. 3

    Build

At this point, with approved drawings, we execute. A lot of care and craftsmanship goes into every single piece that leaves our shop. You are paying for gorgeous furniture that will outlast all of us. We take that seriously.

  4. 4

    Deliver

The most exciting moment in the process is when your new piece of furniture is out of our shop and sitting in your space for the first time. Most of our pieces leave Florida. Wherever the house is, it is crated in the shop and delivered white glove, and set in place.

Smaller pieces, from the same boards

  • Cutting boards

End-grain and edge-grain boards, made from the offcuts of our furniture work in the same species.

  • Cigar ashtrays

Solid hardwood, cut so a cigar rests properly, in the same species as our furniture.

  • EDC trays

A valet tray for what comes out of your pockets at the end of the day, cut from solid hardwood with a felt-lined well.

  • Coasters

Sets cut from the offcuts of our furniture work, so no two in a set carry the same grain.

Made from the offcuts of our commissions, so what is on the bench changes. Ask.

Begin a commission.

A rough idea is enough to begin. You do not need dimensions, a drawing, or a species in mind. The consultation exists to settle all three, and nothing is quoted until you have approved a drawing.
